The energy is absorbed by the vessel, heating and collapsing it while sparing surrounding tissue. KTP (532 nm) for superficial vessels
The 532 nm KTP wavelength is strongly absorbed by hemoglobin and works well on superficial concerns — facial telangiectasia, diffuse redness, and the visible vessels associated with rosacea. Its shorter wavelength keeps energy near the surface, which suits fine, superficial vessels.
Nd:YAG (1064 nm) for deeper vessels
The 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength penetrates more deeply, making it suitable for larger or deeper vessels such as leg veins, and it is generally better tolerated across a wider range of skin types. Adjustable pulse widths let providers match the pulse to the vessel size.
